Damaged Dublin — 'Think Twice'

Damaged Dublin — 'Think Twice'

Damaged are back with another conceptual capsule drop addressing trauma and painful emotion.

Warning: this one tackles the troublesome subject of suicidal behaviour, using symbolism in each item to outline a narrative of reckless drink driving.

After “No Comparison”, where the character was left in a state of lunacy, they come back to their senses to an extent. Aiso, @soulsosa_, carryies on where Ud left off in the last drop.

“Think Twice” engages with the troubling subject of suicidal behaviour, told through a narrative about drink driving. The drop depicts drunken behaviour from its lead character but attempts to encourage the viewer to be aware of noticing signs of suicidal behaviour and acting on it. People acting erratically may seem irritating at the time, but they should not be avoided or dismissed, as Sophie @sophieokpara did in to Aiso in the “Think Twice” lookbook. The crash morbidly represents Aiso’s suicide.

The pieces in the collection symbolically represent Aiso’s stages of depression through their shape, details and fabrics. The hexagonal bag symbolizes a car wheel, indicating we have an ability to steer our lives in certain directions. The rough, faded fabric and the three zips of the cord shirt represent road lanes in the drink driving metaphor, suggesting the opposite to the bag – a lack of control. Finally, the patches on the turtleneck are wounds from the crash, which can be thought of physical injuries to the person or the emotional scarring for the people close to them.

To launch this drop and the next one, “Karma Kard”, lined up for the summer, Damaged hosted a popup exhibition on the 29th of February. Both drops were available for sale as well as all the photos from the shoots for both drops. Previous drops items and visuals were available for viewing too.
