Congratulations on the launch brother, how does it feel to have a project under your belt?
Thanks! It feels great to finally drop my debut EP. I was very gassed to release it on the same label as artists I look up to and admire. Shout Shall Not Fade!
You’re a man of many talents, creating music in multiple genres with multiple instruments - what is it specifically about Garage that sucked you in?
Once I went to my first UKG rave... that was it. I saw Conducta in Wigwam basement and had a UKG epiphany.
You’ve been on quite a long path to get to you to this point. Writing solo tunes when you were 12, to writing with a band, then studying music production and now releasing your own solo electronic work. Are there any genres or skills that you have your eye on next?
For sure. I just purchased technic SL 1200s and I am slightly obsessed with vinyl at the minute. I also produce and play synths/keys in a band ‘Loraine Club’ .
What do you enjoy about Loraine Club?
The best thing for me is just having the craic with your mates! I’ve known the lads in the band since I was about 12 years old so we are all so like-minded.
Why is Phil Foden the best young talent in Manchester?
You’ve been rubbing elbows with a few heads in the scene, Conducta, DJ EZ, Shampain. Have you found lockdown has made it easier to chat with other artists with everyone being stuck at home?
Yeah I do. It’s really cool to see people like Disclosure and Conducta doing remix competitions and reaching out to producers who wouldn’t normally get the exposure.
A few of those heads have their eye on you for a while now, are there any artists you have your eye on at the moment?
There’s this producer from Galway called ‘mykz’ who I’ve been pretty hyped about. YUQT, ANSZA, Z.James, MPH, DJ CRISPS - there’s too many to mention!
Despite your success so far, you’re still yet to do a live set with a crowd, are there any venues you have your eye on for when things open up?
Wigwam basement for sure. Just purely for the sound system.
I heard Roy Keane religiously listens to Dista over a cup of tea each morning. As captain of Blueprint FC, would you rather have Keano in his Celtic years or prime John O’Shea in your 5 aside team?
I’d have to go for Roy. He could still dominate a midfield even with his legs virtually gone.
Anything else you’d like to say?
One more plug wouldn’t hurt? ‘Make Me Feel’ my debut EP out now!
Get straight on ‘Make Me Feel’ on Spotify and follow Prozak on Instagram for that good Roy Keane themed Garage content. You can also pre-order Make Me Feel on vinyl from All City.
