Daire Lynch - Figurative Oil Painter
Homegrown Artists: Have a gander at the captivating works of self-taught oil painter Daire Lynch
Dáire Lynch is a Dublin born artist who currently resides in Co.Mayo in the west of Ireland. His primary subject matter is the human, both in form and the intricate nature of their emotions and interactions with the world around them. With a boundless reverence for life and the human form, he has birthed a world where the nuances of humanity are brought to the forefront and propose an emotive journey to the viewer. He is a self taught painter, though studied drawing in BCFE, Dublin. He is also a qualified sound engineer and multi instrumentalist.
When not painting or creating, he can be found in the wilds of Connemara, be it woods, lakes, or the powerful Atlantic Ocean. He told us he recently became the Alpha in a pack of wolves, by showing no fear, tenacious attitude, and willingness to fight for meat. Respect Despite his commitments to his canine brethren, he found the time to share with us his practice of creating art.
- When it comes to my oil paintings, I begin with a very loose sketch /thumbnail of what I have in mind, then I seek someone from social media to pose, I prefer to work with everyday people as I am hoping to capture genuine expressions and nuances of humans, often out of their comfort zone, which I feel adds to the works.
- I do a reference shoot, usually in my Galway city Studio, then I will commence painting at my home studio, where I usually paint from 8pm til 4or 5am each night.
- I draw up the painting then build up with many many thin layers of paint, each painting takes perhaps 200+ hours, I've never really timed it.
