Decoy
Decoy wants to bring walls alive across Ireland and abroad with his art. He paints exterior murals but also creates canvas paintings and prints.
Practicing art in many forms across the last 11 years I adopted the pseudonym ‘Decoy’ to give me a free artistic identity to play with. Since then I have been lucky enough to receive all sorts of amazing opportunities including being involved with the Grey Area Project, including exhibitions 1 and 2. I was proud to be part of this movement as the effects, although slow to release, are now becoming evident in the public art realm. It was a project that elevated the standard of street art in Dublin thanks to the hard work of SUBSET.
This year I also curated a group show called 'Synthesis' that is still currently running in Jampark, Swords. I chose to only include a small group of 4 artists including myself, Atmos, Weaks and Kambo. We all work in close proximity to one another and this exhibition was about consolidating our art in one place.
Otherwise I have been working away at different things and managed to spend 3 weeks working in Paris over the summer. I have become fascinated with the playfulness and curiosity of cats and have started to make a few designs and murals to show this. So far, I have been focusing on one white cat called Zima. This is all in the name of fun and games and pure enjoyment of painting. Next I have on the cards is to concentrate on creating more murals and advancing my art practice by challenging my own style and aesthetic!
