Darndale Estates - Thomas Murray
Dublin photographer, Thomas Murray takes us on a journey through the fields and estates of Darndale.I've always liked going around abandoned builings and trekking around random fields that I know I shouldn't be in. I find them more interesting than I really should. When I started doing this, it was out of interest. I started taking snaps on my phone to capture what I was seeing. When I got home though I realised that most of them were too dark and I couldnt see anything. It was only when I got my camera that the things I saw really started to come home with me.
Its good taking shots in abandoned buildings, the smashed windows give you a weird natural lighting that I've not seen elsewhere. It really brings some quality to my shots that I haven't been able to get elsewhere, so I suppose it's worth all the clothes I have ruined climbing around them. I also like shooting the burnt out cars in fields. Each car is always unique, and they never last too long before the council takes them away. It's a strange thing to be into really.
